Job Purpose |
Retention and Graduation Specialist will lead retention initiatives and outreach to at-risk student populations in efforts to retain and graduate students at higher rates in alignment with the institutional strategic plan. This includes
a high level of collaboration between various campus constituents and strong advocacy for student needs. |
Minimum Requirements |
A bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of experience with student support services in a higher education setting is required. Master’s degree preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged
to apply. |
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Knowledge of student development theory and understanding best practices in higher education for retention, student success, and degree attainment required. Must be familiar with Microsoft Programs (Outlook Calendar, Word, Excel, Power
Point, and Publisher) and willing and able to learn other database systems, including INB Banner, Advise CRM, Maxient and Appointment Manager. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to
maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public in a complex and fast-paced working environment. Ability to take initiative and demonstrate resourcefulness. Knowledge of College and State policies, procedures,
and practices desired. Discretion and knowledge of FERPA regulations essential. |
Additional Comments Regarding Position |
May be required to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends. Some overnight travel may be required. |

Collect, analyze and monitor at-risk student data in order to conduct appropriate outreach for proactive early interventions. Assist students in developing a graduation progression plan and accessing campus
support resources to facilitate the completion of their degree program in a timely manner. Develop approaches that will assist academic departments in identifying and correcting departmental challenges to degree completion. |
