Job Purpose

The Campus Nurse Practitioner under supervision of sponsoring physician is responsible for providing health care in an ambulatory setting to students at the College of Charleston.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program, APRN program and an active and unencumbered license in the State of South Carolina. Family, Pediatric and Mental Health specialties considered. Current CPR/AED certification. Drug Enforcement Administration certification for prescription of controlled substances preferred. Demonstrated ability and sensitivity with working with people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives and can work collaboratively with providers, clinical and front office staff to provide an integrated health and wellness experience for the student. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of medicine as it applies to college health. Knowledge of techniques involved in the care and treatment of patients. Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures, rules and regulations and policies and standards used in rendering medical care in a college setting. Familiarity with up to date laws and regulations. Ability to diagnose and treat disease and illness. Ideal candidate would have experience in college health and/or adolescent medicine.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

This position works 30 hours per week, 10 months per year, with the months of June and July off and unpaid.
