Cahill Selected CAA Defensive Player of the Week
RICHMOND, VA. – College of Charleston midfielder Steven Cahill
has been chosen the CAA Defensive Player of the Week after spearheading the Cougar defense to a pair of shutouts including a key conference win over Northeastern.
The graduate student from Cambridge, England, played all 180 minutes as the Cougars played to an 0-0 draw against NC State on Tuesday before boosting their chances
for a spot in the postseason with a 1-0 victory over the Huskies on Saturday.
Cahill, a two-time team captain, has played a leadership role for a defensive unit that has allowed only 16 goals in 13 games including five shutouts. All five clean
sheets have come at home where the Cougars are 5-0-2 on the year.
Charleston is 5-4-4 overall and 3-2-2 in the CAA. With 11 points, the Cougars are tied for fourth with two conference games remaining in the regular season. The top
six teams qualify for the CAA Tournament which begins on November 3.
