Brown Cracks Record Book, Blair Paces Men at Pirate Invitational



LAKE KRISTI, N.C. – Sophia Brown entered the College of Charleston record book in the 6K, and Hammer Blair led the Cougar men for the second straight race to highlight the cross country team’s performance at the Pirate Invitational.



Brown posted a time of 22:05.10, the 20th-fastest in school history, and finished sixth in a field of 89 runners. The sophomore has led the Cougars in all four meets this fall and helped Charleston place second on Friday with 65 points, just six behind Elon.



Blair was 22nd out of 92 runners with an 8K time of 25:56.88 to lead the Cougars to a fifth place finish.



Four other women placed in the Top 25 led by Hannah Wise in 11th with a time of 22:29.11. She was followed by Rhian Purves (14th, 22:45.16), Shannon Smith (22nd with a PR of 23:15.22) and Emily Dorony (24th, 23:20.64).



Jackson Reid was second among the Charleston men, crossing in 26:42.22 to take 37th place. Also scoring for the Cougars were Dylan McTigue (41st, 27:01.06), Nik Pettinga (51st, 27:52.58) and Brock Davee (53rd, 28:08.83).



The meet was the final one of the regular season. The Cougars will next compete in the CAA Championships on October 28 in Newark, Del.
