Cougars Conclude Homestand Against Elon

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston looks to get back on track Sunday when the Cougars host Elon in the conclusion of a three-game homestand at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

The Cougars are 8-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the CAA and enter Sunday’s match tied for seventh place with seven points while the Phoenix is ninth with six points (6-5-2, 2-3 CAA).

Sunday is women’s soccer Alumni Day, and former players in attendance will be recognized at halftime.

Despite being held off the scoreboard on Thursday, Grace Powell remains tied for second in the CAA with eight goals and is tied for third with 18 points. Powell is second in the conference with 43 shots, and Olivia Freitas and Faith Slimmer are tied for sixth with 37. Slimmer’s five assists are tied for sixth.

Elon is led offensively by Ashlee Brehio with five goals, and the Phoenix has already matched last year’s goal total with 21. McKenna Dalfonso has five shutouts, tied for the fifth most in the CAA.

Both teams have 10 wins in the all-time series and two others have ended in draws. Elon won 2-1 at home last year with Slimmer contributing an assist for the Cougars.
