Drexel Visit Launches CAA Women’s Soccer Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston plays its first CAA game of the season when the Cougars host undefeated Drexel on Thursday night at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The game is the first of three straight at home for the Cougars, who also face Delaware on Sunday and Hampton next Thursday at Patriots Point.

Charleston (6-3) is looking to get back to its winning ways after seeing its four-game streak snapped with a 1-0 loss at Furman on Friday. Savannah Barron set a career high with 10 saves to keep the Cougars in it the whole way.

Barron ranks fifth in the conference in goals against average (0.80) and save percentage (.846). Grace Powell is second with six goals and fifth with 12 points, and Bubbles Dever is tied for second with four assists.

Mary Alexander (3 goals, 2 assists) is second on the team with eight points followed by Olivia Frietas (3 goals, 1 assist) and Faith Slimmer (2 goals, 3 assists) with seven.

The Dragons are 5-0-3 and have allowed only five goals. Molly Piso is third in the CAA with an 0.66 goals against average and second with an .871 save percentage. Delaney Lappin is Drexel’s top scorer with five goals followed by Annalena O’Reilly and Casey Touey with three.

Drexel holds a 6-3 lead in the series including a 1-0 win last season in Philadelphia. The Cougars won the previous two meetings, 3-2 in double overtime in the 2018 CAA quarterfinals and 1-0 at Drexel in 2019.
