COUGARS HEAD UP THE COAST FOR TUESDAY TUSSLE WITH CHANTICLEERS

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team makes the short trip to Conway, S.C. on Tuesday for a midweek matchup with Coastal Carolina to kick off the Cougars’ final week of non-conference play. First serve is slated for 6:00 p.m.

The Cougars went 1-2 at the CofC Invitational this past weekend sweeping Incarnate Word on Friday before dropping a pair of straight-set decisions to Wofford and Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

QUICK HITTERS


·         The Cougars delivered their second sweep victory of the season on Friday cruising past Incarnate Word in straight sets to open play at the CofC Invitational.

·         Charleston owns a 35-3 all-time record against the Chanticleers after Coastal Carolina defeated the Cougars on Saturday.

·         Senior Lexi Wierzbicki paced the Cougars with 31 kills over the weekend and reached a personal milestone on Saturday with her 500th kill as a Cougar against Wofford.

·         A trio of freshmen were given ample opportunity to prove themselves at the CofC Invitational highlighted by three starts each for Olivia Mae Van Der Werff and Avery Alexander. Van Der Werff finished the weekend with 15 kills including an eight-kill performance against Wofford. Alexander put down eight kills to go along with five aces and a team-high 35 digs.


SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS


  *   Coastal Carolina carries a 6-3 record into Tuesday’s matchup following a straight-set sweep of the Cougars to conclude the CofC Invitational on Saturday.
  *   The Chanticleers rank 30th in the nation holding opponents to a .149 hitting percentage and enter the week with the third-best hitting percentage (.251) in the Sun Belt.
  *   Ella Saada leads a trio of Chants averaging more than 2.50 kills per set with 67 kills in six frames thus far. Agata Lesiak and Paulina Perez Rosas enter the week averaging 2.77 and 2.61 kills per set, respectively.
  *   Lina Perugini paces the back row averaging 4.65 digs per frame while Christina Nance leads the Chants at the net with 27 blocks.
