COUGARS ADD ADAM BROWN TO BASEBALL STAFF

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston baseball coach Chad Holbrook announced the addition of Adam Brown to his staff Thursday as the assistant head coach and co-recruiting coordinator. He will oversee the Cougars’ infielders and hitters as well as serve as co-recruiting coordinator alongside sixth-year assistant coach Will Dorton.

Brown comes to College of Charleston via USC Upstate where he spent two seasons as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. While in Spartanburg, Brown helped lead the Spartans to 72 wins and two of the top-10 team batting averages for a single season in program history with a .298 clip in 2021 and .296 mark in 2022.

“Adam is the perfect fit for our baseball program,” Holbrook said. “He’s a relentless and trustworthy recruiter, a great teacher of the game and has been a winner at every stop. His reputation in the coaching fraternity is flawless and we are so excited to welcome Adam, his wife Alyson and their two daughters Adason and Anslee to The College.”

Prior to USC Upstate, Brown coached at Morehead State where he helped lead the Eagles to their first OVC Tournament Title in 2015. Brown's pitching staff led the conference and set the OVC record for strikeouts (570) in 2018 en route to winning the OVC Tournament title and participating in the NCAA Clemson Regional.

In 2016, the offense again ranked near the top of the league and nation, ranking second in school history (only to the 2015 season) in six stats categories in the MSU record book. He was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference best recruiter by D1Baseball.com in 2016.

Prior to Morehead State, Brown made stops at Louisburg College, a junior college in Louisburg, NC, Gardner-Webb and Winthrop.

A native of Summerville, S.C., Brown began his coaching career at his alma mater of Summerville High School as an assistant varsity baseball coach.

Brown graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science from Charleston Southern University in 2007 where he was recognized as a Scholar Athlete in six of his eight semesters. On the baseball field, he was a four-year letterman playing every infield position.

He is married to Alyson LaVigne Brown and they have two daughters, Adason and Anslee.
