CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team will embark on a rigorous and jam-packed 29-match schedule this fall – a slate which includes a pair of home tournaments and matchups with a trio of programs that earned a berth in last year’s NCAA Tournament announced head coach Jason Kepner on Friday.

“I am excited about this upcoming fall,” Kepner said. “We have a very challenging non-conference schedule to start off the season. It is a great opportunity to open at home with Fresno, Rutgers, and The Citadel. I think all these matches will prepare us for the CAA schedule and the great new additions to our conference.”

The Cougars will open the 2022 campaign at home for the seventh consecutive season hosting Fresno State, The Citadel and Rutgers in the CofC Invitational on August 26 and 27. Following a season-opening doubleheader on Friday against Fresno State and The Citadel, Charleston will close out the weekend against Rutgers on Saturday evening.

A trip to Athens, Ga. the weekend of September 2 and 3 will feature matchups with a pair of Power Five opponents in Texas Tech and Georgia, as well as a bout with Charlotte at the Georgia Invitational. The Cougars will then return home to host the CofC Classic on September 9 and 10. Coach Kepner and the Cougars are slated to open the weekend against Incarnate Word on Friday before taking on Wofford and Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

After a midweek trek to Conway, S.C. for the second of back-to-back matchups with Coastal Carolina on Sept. 13, the Cougars will close out the non-conference slate at Charleston Southern’s tournament on September 16 and 17 in North Charleston. The Cougars are slated to face UNCG, Montana and the host Buccaneers in the Buc Dome.

The CAA schedule will once again take on an unfamiliar look with the addition of Hampton, North Carolina A&T and Stony Brook to the league’s membership. Each of the conference’s 11 members are scheduled to play a 16-match league schedule comprised of eight, two-match series meaning each program will not see two CAA opponents during the regular season.

Charleston’s CAA slate features home tilts against Delaware, Northeastern, Towson and North Carolina A&T with the Cougars traveling to UNCW, Hofstra, Elon and Stony Brook.

Plans for the 2022 CAA Championship will be announced at a later date.

Admission to all College of Charleston volleyball matches at TD Arena is free of charge and fans are reminded to abide by the College’s clear bag policy outlined here.
