PRIVETTE SNARES FOURTH ALL-AMERICA ACCOLADE

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- College of Charleston sophomore William Privette collected his fourth All-America honor of the season on Friday earning a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Third Team announced ABCA officials.

With the announcement, Privette becomes only the second player in program history to be named an All-American by four different publications in the same season. He joins current Major Leaguer Taylor Clarke who earned five All-America nods during his record-setting 2015 campaign. The 2022 CAA Pitcher of the Year is also a finalist – the first-ever from the CAA – for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year to be announced Friday.

A native of Chapin, S.C., Privette finished the 2022 campaign as the only pitcher in program and CAA history to post an earned run average under 1.00, setting a new single-season school and league mark with a 0.91 ERA. He currently paces the nation in ERA (0.91), hits allowed per nine innings (4.70) and WHIP (0.78) while ranking 10th with a CAA-best 12 saves.

The 6-foot-6 fireballer played an integral role in the Cougars’ run to their second CAA regular season title in program history this season logging the third-most innings on the team while pacing the staff with a miniscule .148 batting average against. He worked at least two full innings in 19 of his 25 appearances this season with 10 of his 12 saves coming in outings spanning at least two frames. Privette struck out 80 batters in 59.1 innings of work averaging more than 12 K’s per nine frames.
