Cougars Drop Doubleheader to Charleston Southern
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston fell in a doubleheader to Charleston
Southern by scores of 5-1 and 8-1 on Wednesday night at Patriots Point.
Carli McCants held CSU scoreless through three in the first game before the Bucs tallied three runs in the fourth. The Cougars scored their run in the sixth on a
bunt single by Jenna Carter and RBI base hit off the bat of Shealyn Starks.
McCants fanned four in six innings and only two of the five runs she allowed were earned. Annah Junge struck out 10 in a five-hitter for CSU.
The Bucs pulled away from a 1-0 game by putting up seven runs in their final three at bats of the second game. The Cougars got on the board in the seventh when Starks
scored on a double by Mia Dittoe.
Payton Lemire went the distance in the circle and struck out a career-high eight. Blake Holtorf tossed a two-hitter for the Bucs and also fanned eight.
The Cougars return to CAA action this weekend at UNCW and are back at Patriots Point next Tuesday against Winthrop.
