Cougars Host Buccaneers in Crosstown Rivalry at Patriots Point

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston extends the most-played rivalry in school history on Wednesday when the Cougars host Charleston Southern in a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Patriots Point.

Admission is free and the first 50 fans will receive a free CofC seat cushion.

The teams have met all but two seasons since the beginning of the Cougar softball program in 1993 with one the result of the shortened 2020 campaign. Charleston owns a 57-33 lead in the series and has won 18 of the past 21 including a split last season at CSU.

The Cougars are coming off a 1-2 weekend against James Madison, snapping a 12-game losing streak to the Dukes with a 4-1 win in the opening game. Payton Lemire earned her second straight complete game win in that contest, aided by a four-run rally in the fifth.

Jenna Carter has hit safely in 13 of the last 17 games with 19 hits and 15 runs scored over that span. She leads the team with a .360 average, the 10th-highest in the CAA, is tied for fourth with 20 walks and is second with a .491 on-base percentage.

Raleigh Lewis paces the Bucs with a .315 average and is tied with SeaEnna Satcher and Madison Koger for the team lead with six homers. Satcher has a team-high 26 RBI, and Annah Junge is the staff ace with nine wins, a 2.66 ERA and 104 strikeouts.
