Cougars Drop Doubleheader to Drexel to Open CAA Play



MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Drexel rallied from an early deficit for a 13-7 win over the College of Charleston in game one and completed the sweep with a 14-3 victory on Saturday at Patriots Point.



The Cougars scored five times in the bottom of the second of the opener to take a 5-1 lead. Chloe Valdez singled to tie the game, Natalie Windham had a two-run single for her first career RBI and a fielder’s choice and wild pitch capped off the inning.



The Dragons stormed back and took a 6-5 lead with three runs in the sixth and blew it open with seven in the seventh. Charleston got two back in its half of the final frame on a sacrifice fly by Carsten Puckett and Valdez’s third hit and second RBI of the contest.



Drexel scored five runs in the first inning of game two and never looked back. The Cougars scored in the third on an RBI double by Jenna Helberg and two in the fifth on run-scoring base hits by Kelli Anne Carter and Windham, who finished the day with three hits and three RBI.



The teams wrap up their three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
