PRIVETTE NAMED TO MIDSEASON STOPPER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST

DALLAS --- Sophomore right-hander William Privette has been named to the midseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Stopper of the Year award joining 61 of the top relief pitchers in the nation this season announced NCBWA officials Wednesday.

Privette is one of two representatives from the CAA along with Towson's Jake Pecilunas. The 6-foot-6 right-hander has put together an impressive resumé over the first 10 weeks of the season, entering the week ranked second in the nation in earned run average (0.86), ninth in hits allowed per nine innings (5.40), 16th in saves (8) and 18th in WHIP (0.91). Privette has made 17 appearances thus far, striking out 55 batters while holding opponents to a paltry .164 batting average in 41 and two-thirds innings of work.

He currently leads the CAA in ERA and saves while ranking second in WHIP and fourth in strikeouts. The Chapin, S.C. native has been especially outstanding in CAA play limiting league opponents to two earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 27 in 20 innings of work. He has recorded five of his eight saves in nine appearances to this point in league action.
