COUGARS FALL TO COASTAL CAROLINA IN MIDWEEK ACTION
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- Coastal Carolina put up three crooked numbers in the first four innings on its way to a 17-7 victory over College of Charleston in midweek action on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.
LEADING OFF
Final Score: Coastal Carolina 17, College of Charleston 7

Records: Charleston (26-14), Coastal Carolina (23-14-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
* Coastal Carolina struck first scoring one run without the benefit of a hit in the top of the first.
* Charleston would answer with four runs in the home half on a two-run single by JT Marr and back-to-back RBI ground outs.
* The Chanticleers countered with an eight-run outburst in the top of the second to retake the lead, 9-4.
* Coastal pushed the margin to 16-4 over the next two frames to put the game out of reach.
* Charleston would plate one in the sixth and two in the eighth before the Chanticleers capped the scoring with one in the ninth.
KEY COUGARS
* Marr finished the ninth 1-for-2 with his two-run single in the opening frame.
* Trotter Harlan reached base twice with a single and a walk in two plate appearances.
* Emmett Bice struck out five and did not allow an earned run in three innings of work.
* Brandon Miller spun two perfect innings out of the ‘pen with two strikeouts.
FOR THE NOTEBOOK
* Freshman Will Baumhofer entered the game in the sixth inning and led off the frame with a homer down the right field line for his first collegiate long ball. He also drew a walk and scored in the eighth.
* Patrick Sanchez launched the first home run of his collegiate career in the eighth with a two-run shot to left center.
NEXT UP
The Cougars will resume its CAA slate this weekend welcoming Delaware to the Lowcountry for a crucial three-game set. First pitch for Friday’s series opener is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
