Cougars Host William & Mary on Sunday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – In a game delayed one day by Hurricane Ian, College of Charleston plays host to William & Mary on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point.

The game will be a Pups on the Pitch Day, with fans encouraged to bring their furry friends to the game. Everyone who brings their dog must fill out a waiver and have proof of their dog’s vaccinations.

The Cougars and Tribe are both 2-1-1 in the CAA and in a five-way tie for third in the conference along with Hofstra, Drexel and Northeastern with seven points. Elon has nine points and UNCW has eight in a tightly bunched race for playoff berths and seeding.

Charleston is coming off a 3-0 win over UNC Asheville on Tuesday behind two goals from Chris Elliott and a pair of assists by Chris Matlashewski. Iker Carew also scored a goal, and Justin Bauer had one save in his first start as a Cougar.

Elliott took over the team lead and moved into a tie for first in the CAA with five goals while also tying for third with 11 points. Matlashewski is tied for second in the conference with four assists, one more than Leonardo D’Ambrosio.

The Tribe is paced offensively by Alexander Levengood with four goals and four assists and leads the CAA with 12 points. Danilo Nikcevic has four shutouts on the year to go along with a 1.33 goals against average.

William & Mary leads the all-time series, 7-1-2, with all but one meeting taking place since the Cougars joined the CAA in 2013. The Tribe has won four in a row, including a 1-0 home victory last season.
