CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston takes its undefeated record on the road when the Cougars play Mercer on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. game against Georgia on Sunday.

Charleston will be looking to go 3-0 for the first time since opening the 2008 season with seven straight wins. The Cougars did not allow a goal in home victories over Alabama A&M and Coastal Carolina.

Faith Slimmer is one of six Cougars with a goal, and her three assists tie her for third in the nation. Slimmer’s performance in the first two games earned her CAA Player of the Week accolades and an honorable mention berth on the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week.

Charleston has also received goals from Bubbles Dever, Olivia Freitas, Mary Alexander, Delaney Dawes and Grace Powell. Savannah Barron and Katie Carrino have both started a game in goal and have one save each in 90 minutes as the Cougar defense has allowed only 13 shots and just two on target.

Mercer played to a 1-1 tie at Campbell and downed Charleston Southern, 3-1, in its home opener. The Bears have goals from Kendall Cook, who also has a pair of assists, as well as Sydney Farr, Nicole Ican and Lana Whitfield. Lindsey Bell has 13 saves, a 1.00 goals against average and .867 save percentage.

The Cougars are 1-4 against Mercer but the teams haven’t played since 1997 when they were both in the Trans America Athletic Conference.

Georgia began its season with a 4-0 win over Georgia Southern and a 3-1 loss to No. 1 Florida State. Dani Murguia has two goals, and Madison Haugen produced a pair of assists. Liz Beardsley has seven saves with six coming against the Seminoles.

The Bulldogs are undefeated in six games against the Cougars, including a 1-0 win last year at Patriots Point.
