Cougars Begin Busy September Home Slate Against Longwood



CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston plays Longwood for the first time in women’s soccer when the teams meet for Friday Night Futbol at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.



The game against the Lancers marks the first of six home matches for the Cougars in September.



The first 100 students in attendance will receive a free t-shirt, and students will also be able to ride to and from the game via the shuttle at the Stern Center.



The Cougars are 2-2 with both wins coming at home over Alabama A&M and Coastal Carolina. The Lancers have three wins in four outings, defeating Richmond, UMBC and Howard and losing to Wofford.



Olivia Freitas leads Charleston with two goals and five points, and Faith Slimmer is tied for 14th in the nation with three assists. Bubbles Dever, Mary Alexander, Delaney Dawes and Grace Powell have also scored goals.



Savannah Barron (10 saves) and Katie Carrino (7) both have played 180 minutes and have one win each.



Longwood has allowed only three goals in its four games, with keeper Mary Kate Levush leading the Big South in saves (21) and save percentage (.913) while ranking third with an 0.53 goals against average. Savannah Noll and Catharine Forst both have two goals.
