Cougars Look to Get Back to Winning Ways Against Delaware



CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston continues its three-game homestand to start CAA play on Sunday when Delaware visits Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point for a 1 p.m. match.



The game is Youth Soccer Day and Kid's Club Takeover Event. Cougar players will be available for autographs after the game, and Kid's Club members will take part in a halftime Dizzy Penalty Kick contest. There will also be a poster making and coloring booth before and during the match.



The Cougars have lost their last two games, including a 3-2 defeat to Drexel on Thursday in their first conference match of the season. The Blue Hens are also 0-1 in the CAA with a 1-0 loss at UNCW.



Overall, Charleston is 6-4 while Delaware has lost six times and tied three after an opening day 3-0 win over Delaware State.



Grace Powell ranks among the CAA leaders in several categories, including second with six goals, seventh with 12 points and third in shots with 32 and shots on goal with 16. Bubbles Dever and Faith Slimmer are tied for third in the conference in assists with four.



Delaware’s Izzy Lane is also in that tie for third in the league with four assists while Sara D’Applonia is the top goal scorer for the Blue Hens with four. Mia Reed has played the majority of time in goal and has a 1.29 GAA.



Charleston has won six in a row against Delaware to build a 6-1-1 lead in the all-time series. The Cougars have not conceded a goal to the Blue Hens in the past four meetings, including a 1-0 victory last season in Newark, Del. Natalie Sgro scored the game-winning goal with Olivia Freitas getting the assist.



Following Sunday’s game, the Cougars wrap up their current homestand on Thursday against CAA newcomer Hampton at 2 p.m.
