CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will play two of its final three games at Patriots Point this weekend when the Cougars take on Lowcountry neighbor Charleston Southern in a three-game home-and-home series. Friday and Sunday’s games will take place at Patriots Point with Saturday’s contest being played at CSU’s Nielsen Field. First pitch for Friday’s series opener is slated for 6:00 p.m.



Charleston has won 16 of its last 18 and three straight after defeating Clemson, 7-5, on Tuesday evening at Segra Park in Columbia. Charleston Southern enters the weekend having won three of its last five including a series victory against Presbyterian this past weekend.



SERIES SNAPSHOT

The Cougars lead the all-time series, 57-17, and have won four of the last five meetings. Charleston took three of four in the season series in 2019 including a 9-2 victory in North Charleston in the most recent matchup.



PROBABLE PITCHERS

Friday | 6:00 pm ET: RHP Ty Good (8-4, 3.59) vs. RHP Daniel Paydsak (1-3, 5.51)

Saturday | 4:00 pm ET: RHP Trey Pooser (4-1, 3.04) vs. LHP Ryan Gleason (1-0, 10.12)

Sunday | 1:00 pm ET: TBD vs. TBD



LEADING OFF



·         The Cougars have been rolling over the last six weeks having won 16 of their last 18 overall including 14 of the last 15 in CAA play to secure the program's second CAA regular season title last Sunday.



·         Charleston's pitching staff has been dominant over the last three weekends combining for a 1.69 ERA in a trio of series wins - including two sweeps - against Elon, Delaware and UNCW to climb to 16th in the nation in team ERA (3.77).



·         Jared Kirven has made the most of his opportunities of late posting a multi-hit game in each of his last four starts. He has collected nine hits in 15 at-bats over that span while driving in seven runs. Kirven plated a career-high four runs in Tuesday's win over Clemson.



·         Sophomore William Privette has been lights out this season out of the bullpen currently ranking second in the nation in ERA (0.72), sixth in hits allowed per nine innings (5.26), sixth in saves (11) and 13th in WHIP (0.89).



·         The Cougars have played their best baseball in the friendly confines of Patriots Point this season entering the weekend with the best record (23-5) through the first 28 home games in program history. The 2022 campaign marks the 22nd season with at least 20 home victories in school history.



SCOUTING THE BUCS



·         Charleston Southern enters the series with a 18-26 overall record and currently sit seventh in the Big South standings with a 10-11 mark in league play.



·         The Bucs are batting .274 as a team this season with 39 home runs and a combined .387 on-base percentage.



·         Hayden Harris leads the way for CSU batting .338 with five home runs and 28 RBI. Ryan Waldschmidt has launched a team-high eight home runs while driving in 30 runs.



·         Friday starter Daniel Padysak carries a 1-3 record with a 5.51 ERA in 17 appearances including four starts.
