CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston plays its first Colonial Athletic Association series of the season this weekend with three games against Drexel at Patriots Point.



The Cougars and Dragons square off in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday at the same time. Tickets will be required for both days and are $8 for adults and $5 for youths 18 and younger.



Jenna Carter and Jenna Helberg lead the Cougars at the plate. Carter is 11th in the CAA with a batting average of .353 and has hit safely in nine of the past 12 games. She also leads the team with 11 runs scored and is second with 18 hits.



Helberg paces Charleston with 21 hits and 10 RBI and is batting .309. She is tied with Carsten Puckett for the team lead with two homers. Carli McCants is fourth in the league with a 2.18 ERA and ninth with 37 strikeouts.



The Dragons are 9-6 and led by two of the top hitters in the CAA, with Kristi DiMeo (.442) and Grace Abbonizio (.429) ranking first and third, respectively, in batting average. Ashley Errico leads Drexel with five home runs and 15 RBI, and Brooklyn Daly has five wins in the circle.



This is the first meeting since 2019 when Drexel won two of three in the regular season and the teams split a pair of games in the CAA Tournament. The Cougars own a 14-7 lead in the series.
